Greenhouse Gasses

Understanding Emissions Trading and Global Warming

It goes without saying that there is often an inherent conflict between science and economies. Emission trading is an interesting effort in the global warming arena.

Understanding Emissions Trading and Global Warming

It is a mild understatement to say that global warming is both a controversial and misunderstood field. As the decay of the ice packs and slowing of the ocean conveyer become more apparent, the controversy is starting to evolve into an acceptance of global warming as a fact. Given this great acceptance, the question is now what to do about it.

Renewable Energy Options For The Home - Part 1 - Biomass-Wood Pellet - Hydropower- Wind Power

The use of energy in our homes is inescapable, providing heating and electricity within the home. Traditionally, we have been reliant on fossil fuels such as coal, gas and oil to provide for our energy needs. Fossil fuels by nature are a finite resource and will eventually run-out. In addition to this, they are damaging to the environment contributing greatly to the production of greenhouse gases. The most significant of these greenhouse gases is carbon dioxide (CO2) - almost half of the energy related to CO2 emissions derive from energy use in buildings.

Does Global Warming Occur Without Man?

Global warming is perpetually in the news these days. While everyone is aware of pollution problems, did you know a certain amount of global warming occurs as part of the biomass?

Does Global Warming Occur Without Man

Most discussions about global warming center around the impact man has on his environment. Massive emissions of carbon dioxide by industry and transport are the prime culprits evidenced in this regard. While global warming in and of itself is a controversial subject, what is clear is that it is not only a phenomena caused by mankind.

The More Inconvenient Truth

I recently watched the movie an inconvenient truth and I found it very informative and entertaining and think even those who don t much like Al Gore personally might still enjoy the movie. There wasn t a whole lot in the film that you probably haven t seen or heard before but it is the scale of which it is portrayed. That throughout 600,000 years of history the carbon dioxide level has never been above 300 ppm and its dramatic rise from 1950 to the present and that if left unchanged is now a straight vertical line pointing off the chart. This leaves us in virgin territory to say the least.

Why Changing Out Your Light Bulbs Is A Smart Move

Whether you are motivated by money or concern about global warming, changing out your light bulbs and fixtures can make a huge difference on both fronts.

I was driving down the 405 freeway in Los Angeles one day past Long Beach. If you have made the drive, you know much of it occurs at speeds of about 5 miles an hour given the traffic. As I inched along, I slowly passed the local gasoline refinery. I tisked my head thinking of all the harm coming from the massive pollutants. Of course, I was driving a car, but why look in the mirror?
